Identification Unit

The Identification unit is responsible for maintaining, updating, and sealing criminal history based on fingerprint verification through the Livescan processes throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The Identification unit can provide a letter of clearance as proof of no local San Francisco Criminal history upon request. The Identification unit also provides individuals a 6-week application process for requesting copies of their SF RAP sheet or booking photo with proof of identification. 

The Identification unit is responsible for maintaining, updating, and deleting all San Francisco Civil and Criminal Restraining Orders into the nationwide law enforcement database and answers calls nationwide 24/7 from law enforcement for the purpose of validating all SF Restraining orders before arrest.

All applicant livescans for City Permits or all SF Law enforcement job applications are processed through the Identification unit as a part of the verification process.   

All Sex Offenders living in the city of San Francisco are required come to the Identification unit to be registered on an annual or monthly basis depending on the conditions of their court orders.
