Under the Collaborative Reform Initiative, the SFPD has accomplished some major achievements. These achievements include revision of the SFPD’s use of force policy, establishing the Community Engagement Division, elevating citywide foot beat presence, providing sworn members with continuous Procedural Justice and Implicit Bias training, improving accountability and obtaining analytical insights into recruitment, training and personnel practices. Guided by our mission of providing safety with respect for all, we believe the 2016 U.S. DOJ/COPS Assessment report provides a roadmap to making SFPD a better, more responsive department.
