SFPD Reunite Victim with Wife's Ashes

On May 2, 2015 an off duty San Francisco Police Officer noted a newspaper story regarding a stolen vehicle that contained the ashes of the victim’s deceased wife.

On May 4, 2015 at approximately 7:30 AM, upon returning to work, the officer conducted a computer search for the vehicle theft report and discovered that the vehicle was still stolen. He checked the car’s license plate and determined that the car had not been towed, cited or impounded since the reported theft.

At approximately 9:00 AM, the officer drove to the area of 4th Ave and Cabrillo streets, the area where the vehicle was stolen from, in an attempt to locate the vehicle. The officer conducted a grid search of this area and located the vehicle parked and unattended on the 600 block of 3rd Ave. The officer called the Victim on his mobile phone to inform him the vehicle was located and to come recover his vehicle.

The Victim responded to the scene and told the officer that his suitcase with notebooks, his drum, and the title to his vehicle were missing. The Victim was able to locate his wife's ashes inside of the trunk of the vehicle.

In this original incident, the Victim discovered his vehicle was stolen on April 29, 2015 at approximately 8:48AM on the 400 block of Cabrillo Street with his wife’s ashes inside the vehicle.
