SFPD Officers Save Man in Medical Emergency

On April 16, 2015, at approximately 5:19 PM several Ingleside Police station officers responded to a report of a distress call at a public housing complex. When officers arrived they found a 75 year old man who was unconscious and lying on the ground on a second story walkway, his neck stuck between the front door and door jam of his apartment. The man had obvious signs of physical distress.

The officers were able to free the man’s neck and head from the door jam. At the same time, officers positioned the man for CPR and began chest compressions until hearing the man take his first breath. They continued compressions until SFFD personnel arrived and took over the life saving measures locating a faint pulse on the man.

SFFD staff stated the officers’ quick actions and life saving measures unquestionably saved the man’s life.

The man who is a long term resident of San Francisco in currently in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
