SFPD Makes Arrest in SOMA Arsons Series
The San Francisco Police Department arrested Anthony Bejarano, 47 years of age from San Francisco, on the 200 block of Harrison Street yesterday evening. He is currently in custody at the San Francisco County Jail facing six felony counts of arson including arson of an inhabited structure. Bejarano is suspected of committing at least four arson fires in the South of Market Area.
We would like to express our heart-felt thank you to the public and the media for its rapid response to our request for help in identifying this suspect. The tips we received resulted in the arrest of a dangerous arsonist believed to be responsible for fires set inside of an occupied building last week. The arrest came the very next day after the Department released the suspect’s photo to the public.
The San Francisco Police and Fire Departments Arson Task Force have been working side by side to investigate and solve this series of arsons in SOMA. There is no booking photo available because of pending identification matters. We will release further details as the details become available.
