SFPD Make Arrests in Chinatown Necklace Robbery Series

Since early June 2016, there have been five robberies in the Central district involving suspects using a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The suspects would approach males and females with gold necklaces in Chinatown. The suspects would violently rip the chains off the victims’ necks, then flee to the waiting SUV. 

On Monday, July 18, 2016 at approximately 11:36 PM a Chinatown foot beat officer saw the suspected robbery getaway vehicle parked on the 700 block of Jackson Street. A short time later, units were advised that a robbery had just occurred at 1100 block of Stockton Street and bystanders were holding a suspect. 

The bystanders told the officer that the suspect pulled the necklace off a female victim and advised that another suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of the officers. While the officers conducted their investigation an additional suspect was located in the area and taken into custody.  

Further investigation of the robberies led to the arrest of a third suspect.

Marc Dorsey, 19 years old, Byron Birchett, 18 years old and Razzaaq Manney, 20 years old, all Oakland residents, were booked at the San Francisco County Jail for a total of four different robberies and other various charges.
