SFPD Make Arrest in Weekend Hate Crime, Seek Public's Help in Solving Another
On June 26, 2016 11:01 AM, officers from Tenderloin Station were on patrol in the area of 5th and Market Street when the victims, both 21 year-old female residents of Thousand Oaks, California told them that they had been assaulted by an unidentified male suspect. The victims had been walking west on Market Street near 5th when the suspect approached from behind and pushed one of the victims, causing her to stumble into her girlfriend. The victims turned to face the suspect who now had clenched fists and threatened to kill them because of their sexual orientation. A bystander and the second victim stepped in-between the suspect and the first victim who had been physically assaulted. The suspect walked away, eastbound on Market Street.
At 11:38 AM, other Tenderloin Station officers working a foot beat assignment near Market and Mason Street saw the suspect and recognized him from the description previously provided by the victims. The officers detained the suspect and the victims were called to the scene. The victims positively identified him as the suspect who had committed the assault and threatened to kill them. Emmaunel Morancy, male, age 50 with no known address, was booked at County Jail on charges of criminal threats, battery and a hate crime enhancement. His booking photo accompanies this press release.
The SFPD Special Investigations Division is requesting public assistance in solving a separate prejudice based attack that occurred on June 26, 2015 at approximately

The right front passenger yelled a homophobic slur at the victim. The victim then heard a loud, “bang” coming from the passenger side of the car and felt a sharp pain in his right hand.
The suspect vehicle sped off, travelling southbound on York Street. The victim saw blood dripping from his hand and believed he had been shot with some type of pellet or “BB.” The victim further described the suspect vehicle as a dark gray sedan occupied by at least two male suspects.
