SFPD concludes virtual town hall on August 6th officer-involved shooting at 18th and Shotwell Streets 22-105(a)
Virtual event provided preliminary information gathered from ongoing investigations, which will continue to develop as multiple independent investigations move forward
The San Francisco Police Department has concluded its virtual town hall on an August 6, 2022, officer-involved shooting incident that occurred between uniformed San Francisco Police officers and 51-year-old Jose Corvera. The Vimeo version offers unabridged raw video, portions of which were edited out of the YouTube and Facebook versions for the sake of time for the town hall.

This morning at approximately 7:55 a.m. San Francisco Police officers assigned to Mission station attempted to detain a suspect in the area of 16th St. and South Van Ness Ave. The suspect fled from the officers and a brief foot pursuit ensued. During the foot pursuit an officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect concealed himself behind a vehicle and continued to shoot at officers
Members of the SFPD Tactical Unit responded to the scene and assisted to take the suspect into custody. No one was shot as a result of this incident, but the suspect was transported to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
This incident is being investigated by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, the SFPD Investigative Services Division, the SFPD Internal Affairs Division, and the Department of Police Accountability.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available. As part of the SFPD’s commitment to transparency and accountability, a town hall meeting regarding this officer involved shooting will be held within 10 days.
