SFPD Arrests Shoplifting Suspect Concealing Loaded Ghost Gun in the Ingleside 25-029

To help reduce retail thefts and to hold people who commit these crimes accountable, San Francisco Police officers from Ingleside Station pre-planned a shoplifting and retail theft abatement enforcement operation to address Organized Retail Crimes (ORC). This operation involved coordinated efforts of uniformed and plainclothes officers who arrest criminals who shoplift from retail businesses.
On Friday, February 21, 2025, Ingleside Station officers were conducting an ORC operation at a retail business located near the 3300 block of Mission Street.
During the operation, a subject was observed stealing store merchandise and leaving the store without paying. Officers attempted to detain the male suspect, who began actively resisting. Once the male was detained, he attempted to flee and was later secured in a marked patrol vehicle.
During the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect identified as 22-year-old Maurice Collins from San Francisco, CA.
Officers conducted a search of Collins and located a loaded ghost gun with an extended magazine that was seized.
The stolen merchandise was seized and returned to the store.
Collins was booked into San Francisco County Jail for the following charges: resisting arrest (148(a)(1) PC), shoplifting (459.5(A) PC), child endangerment (273a(a) PC), undetectable firearm (24610 PC), carrying a loaded firearm (25850(c)(4) PC), and carrying a concealed weapon (25400(a)(2) PC).
Although an arrest has been made, this remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
Officers are conducting similar ORC operations throughout the city and making a number of arrests in other retail business locations. Any business that would like to participate in an Organized Retail Crime operation can contact [email protected].
