Officers were advised that two unknown suspects robbed a business at gunpoint and stole store merchandise before fleeing in a vehicle.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the incident.

On Friday, February 28, 2025, investigators identified the vehicle involved in the robbery. The Citywide Plainclothes Team identified 34-year-old Joseph Baus and 49-year-old Matthew Rabbitt as possible suspects in the incident.

SFPD officers were able to locate the vehicle and begin surveillance in the area of 16th Street and Potrero Ave.

While the Citywide Plainclothes team conducted surveillance of the vehicle, two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Baus and Rabbitt. Officers developed and coordinated a strategic plan to disable the vehicle and take the suspects into custody. The officers were successful at disabling the vehicle, however, the vehicle still fled from the police. Officers continued to surveil the vehicle and observed Baus, Rabbitt and a third suspect exit the vehicle and flee on foot. Officers pursued the suspect, and all three suspects were taken into custody without further incident.

A search of the robbery vehicle was conducted, and officers located and seized a rifle, loaded magazine and additional evidence.
