SFPD Arrest Suspect in Weekend Shooting

On June 29, 2014, at approximately 6:29PM, San Francisco Police officers working the Pride event were in the area of 6th and Market Streets when they heard gun shots on the north side of the intersection. Police noticed the suspect, who was later identified as Kawme Williams, with a firearm in his hand and attempting to shoot the weapon over his shoulder while he was running. Multiple SFPD units converged on the scene. Witnesses identified Robert Smith as also being a shooter in this incident, and he was arrested. Officers noticed a juvenile running with a gun and subsequently placed him under arrest.

A 22 year old female victim was discovered with gunshot wounds to her wrist. She was treated for her injuries and is expected to survive. In the shooting a taxi cab was also struck by gunfire.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, and three were arrested in connection to the incident. The following people were arrested in this incident:

Robert Smith, 20 years of age, a Hayward resident, was booked on attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging firearm in grossly negligent manner, carry a concealed firearm, and carrying a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

Kawme Williams,18 years of age, an Oakland resident, was booked on attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a firearm with the intent to commit a felony,  and a felon in possession of a firearm.

A 15 year old male from Antioch was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on multiple firearm charges.
