SFPD Academy’s 251st Basic/32nd Regional Academy Class Graduates
The San Francisco Police Department will be holding a graduation ceremony for the 251st Basic/32nd Regional Academy Class, on Friday, September 23rd, 2016, at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 2850 19th Avenue at Sloat Blvd. at 6:00 P.M. There are 46 recruits graduating from the class, of which four recruits represent the Oakland Police Department.
Members of these classes possess the following degrees, one has a Juris Doctorate degree, one has a Master’s degrees, twenty eight have Bachelor’s degrees, and seven have Associate’s degrees. Fourteen members served in the military as members of the US Army, Navy, Airforce, Coast Guard and Marines. One recruit was previously employed as an EMT.
Several of the recruits are bilingual. The languages spoken are: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Toisanese, Tagalog, Pampango and Visayan.
Since February 2016, the academy classes have completed 34 weeks of training. Following the graduation, the newly sworn SFPD officers will begin a 16-week field-training program at various district stations. The recruits from OPD will return to Oakland for their own respective policy and procedure training before entering their 16-week field training program.
