San Francisco Police Investigate Park District Homicide 22-079(a)
Investigators release further information, including a photo of
a person of interest in this investigation.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at approximately 9:56 a.m. San Francisco Police officers responded to the MUNI Forest Hill Station regarding a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and discovered the train left the station. Officers were informed that the train was headed to the Castro MUNI Station. Officers responded to Castro Station where they located two victims on a MUNI train. Officers rendered aid and summoned medical attention. One victim, a 70-year-old male, was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving measures by personnel from the San Francisco Fire Department, the second victim, a 27-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators from the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail are leading the investigation.
Investigators have obtained video the incident. The SFPD is releasing a still photo of the video, which is an image of a person of interest. The SFPD is asking this person to come forward and speak with investigators. The SFPD would like to assure community members and visitors that this incident appears to be isolated, and we do not believe is related to Pride festivities or was targeting any group or community.
