San Francisco Police Academy’s 268th Recruit, 37th Regional Class Swearing In

The San Francisco Police Department’s 268^th Academy and 37^th Regional class were today sworn in by San Francisco Police Chief William Scott and San Francisco Sheriff Paul Miyamoto. For the first time in recent history, there was not a public graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shelter in place order.  The class is comprised of 15 recruits (12 males and three females) and three San Francisco Sheriff’s Department deputies (all male).

The 268^th graduating class has seven members who have earned Bachelor’s degrees and one has earned an Associate’s degree.  Five graduates served in the military- two in the U.S. Marine Corps, two in the Army and one in the Coast Guard.  Members of the class have previously been employed as a public safety dispatcher, security personnel, electricians, plumbers, food service workers, retail associates and more.

Several graduates speak fluently in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Tagalog.

Following the swearing-in, the newly sworn San Francisco Police Department officers will begin a 16-week field-training program at various district stations.
