Officer Involved Shooting in the Northern District

On 07-20-13 at 9:40 PM, on the 800 block of O'Farrell Street, two groups of males were involved in a shooting. One male victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Another male victim was transported to SFGH with Life-Threatening injuries.

Homicide investigators are trying to determine if the two people shot were involved in the original altercation.

A SFPD officer on-viewed the shootings and shot at one of the armed suspects. The officer did not hit the suspect but after a foot chase took the suspect into custody

Two firearms were recovered from the scene.

At this moment, there are no further description on the other suspects and no one else is in custody.

Also at this time, It is unknown if this is gang related and the motivation for the shootings has not yet been determined.

SFPD Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.

The person in custody has not been booked therefore no information is available at this time.
