"Make-Up Bandit" Robs Retail Store & Brandishes a Knife to Flee

On December 18, 2015 at 10:45 AM, San Francisco Police responded to the 2100 block of Chestnut Street regarding a shoplifter who entered the retail store and stole various cosmetic supplies.

The suspect, seen on surveillance video, is identified as a black male who rode up to the store on a bicycle. The suspect then entered the store, walked directly to the make-up aisle, and began putting various cosmetic items inside his jacket pocket. Several employees recognized the suspect as a habitual shoplifter at this store and told the suspect to stop and drop the items. After the suspect stuffed his jacket full of stolen property, he then proceeded to the exit door and began shoving and pushing the employees out of his way.

A third employee managed to stop the suspect outside of the store and attempted to bring him back inside. The actions of the employee was then thwarted when the suspect brandished a knife and yelled threats. The employee, fearing for his safety, then released the suspect who fled westbound on Chestnut.

San Francisco Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying this “Make-up Bandit.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444, or TEXT-A-TIP to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
