Golden Gate Park Homicide Anniversary

San Francisco Police Homicide Inspectors are seeking assistance in solving the 2012 murder of Stephen Martin which occurred last year after attending the Bay to Breakers event.
In this incident, the victim was assaulted on May 20, 2012 in the Sharon Meadows area of Golden Gate Park. The victim died on Friday, June 8 at San Francisco General Hospital.
Martin had attended the May 20 Bay to Breakers Race with a group of friends, all in troll costumes. At approximately 5:00 P.M., there was a confrontation between Martin’s group and another group consisting of about 12 males and females. The males in the group were wearing 49’er white and red jerseys. Some of the females in the group were wearing purple clothing and one was wearing an orange tutu.
In the confrontation, a male from the group approached Martin and punched him, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. Martin was knocked out and never regained consciousness.
San Francisco police are urging those who may have witnessed the incident or taken photos in the area of Sharon Meadows near the Sharon Arts Studio and the tennis courts to contact Homicide inspectors at 415-553-1145.
